Point in Time Homelessness in our Community (PIT/HIC)
Every year, Continuum of Cares (CoCs) are required by HUD to conduct two counts that provide a snapshot of the size and scope of homelessness in our community and the available current resources to address it.
The Point in Time (PIT) count is an annual census of individuals and families facing homelessness on a single night in January. This includes people and families who are sheltered in emergency shelter, transitional housing and Safe Havens on that single night.
The Housing Inventory Count (HIC) results in a report which shows the current number of beds/units dedicated to serving people experiencing homelessness or who were facing homelessness when they entered the program. This includes emergency shelter, transitional housing, rapid-rehousing, safe haven and permanent supportive housing.
