Our department provides a comprehensive solid waste management system for all outside of Duluth and surrounding townships. This includes providing permitting, licensure and inspection of the systems and programs outlined.
Within the Solid Waste division lies permits and licenses related to the safe removal of garbage and the opportunities to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Garbage Haulers require licensure to safely remove and promote recycling while county residents have a responsibility to safely remove hazards from their homes.
For your convenience, we present the latest documents from our central document library. You can search and find the latest permitting and licensure information from our Environmental Services Board.

On-Site Wastewater (Septic Systems)
Being that much of our county is made up of rural homes and outlying needs, septic systems are a necessity in providing residents with safe ways to remove waste from their homes and keeping it from the environment at the same time. Managing permitting and licensures for homeowners and those in charge of designing and implementing these systems is imperative.
