The $2 million project created a longer, safer bridge crossing the Bear River. It's one of several projects to improve Highway 5 in the Linden Grove area.

The resurfacing of Highway 101 between Eveleth and Mt. Iron is now complete, and along with that, new signs were posted this week giving the road an honorary name: Representative Joe Begich Highway.

The County Land Explorer now features a "Recreation theme" that shows county roads, state trails, and forest service roads and trails where ATVs can be safely operated. The Land Explorer mobile app also features the new map.

The opening of the roundabout marks the completion of a 2.5 year project to re-route Highway 5 to accomodate expanded mining operations at Hibbing Taconite.

The new bridge spans the Burntside River, and opened approximately two weeks ahead of schedule. The road will close again for a brief time late next spring for final paving, striping and other finishing details.
