The reconstruction of two bridges and approximately one mile of Comstock Lake Road (County State Aid Highway 52) east of Cotton will mean detours beginning this Saturday, May 18. Comstock Lake Road will be closed between County Roads 224 and 524, approximately six miles east of Cotton. Detour signs will be posted, directing traffic to use Three Lakes Road (County State Aid Highway 49) and Munger Shaw Road (CSAH 15) instead.

A two-year project to reconstruct a mile of Woodland Avenue and Calvary Road is scheduled to begin Monday, May 20, and with it will come road closures and detours for motorists, including buses.

Spring load restrictions, which have been in place since mid March, will be lifted next week. Road restrictions will end on Tuesday, May 14, for both the North and North-Central Frost Zones, which cover all of St. Louis County. Certain roads may continue to have load limits based on their particular condition. Signs will clearly mark those roads.

St. Louis County Public Works and the City of Hermantown will hold a joint meeting for the public to discuss this summer's planned construction on Maple Grove Road; Stebner Park; and at the intersection of Ugstad Road, Lavaque Bypass and Highway 53.

The 98-year-old bridge where North Shore Scenic Drive (County State Aid Highway 61) crosses the French River, is scheduled for reconstruction in 2020. An open house to discuss the project and answer questions will be held Thursday, April 4, 6-8 p.m., at French River Lutheran Church, 5310 Ryan Road.
