Traffic signal work to temporarily close 2nd Street in Proctor

St. Louis County Public Works will be replacing the traffic signal and making other changes to improve accessibility at the intersection of Highway 2 and 2nd Street in Proctor. As a result, there will be no access to or from 2nd Street on Highway 2 beginning Wednesday, August 7.

Detours will be marked. For traffic going westbound on 2nd Street, the detour will be on Pionk Drive. For eastbound traffic, the detour will be on 3rd Street and 2nd Avenue.

The closure is expected to last four weeks.

Culvert replacement work to temporarily close Lester River Road

A segment of Lester River Road - from the Lester Park Golf Course to Strand Road - will be closed beginning Monday, July 22, for culvert replacement work. The closure is expected to last three weeks and is the first part of a repaving project that will be complete this fall.

Input wanted on Americans with Disabilities Transition Plan

Within St. Louis County's large infrastructure there are 70 miles of sidewalks, 1,510 pedestrian curb ramps and 40 traffic control signals. Ensuring that all of these pedestrian facilities are accessible for people with disabilities is the focus of a plan update being developed by the County's Public Works Department.

Repaving and other improvements on Maple Grove Road begin Monday

The next phase of work on improvements on Maple Grove Road in Hermantown begins July 15. Previously, the City of Hermantown had been installing new sanitary sewer lines. On Monday, St. Louis County Public Works will begin its portion of the project, which includes repaving Maple Grove Road between Midway Road and Westberg Road, and adding new curbs and gutters, and sidewalk.

Temporary traffic signals being installed at 60th East and London Road

Temporary traffic signals are being installed at the intersection of 60th Avenue East and London Road, however they won't be activated until June 24, following Grandma's Marathon. St. Louis County Public Works is installing the lights now to allow time for programming and testing. Motorists should continue to follow and obey existing traffic signs at the intersection until the signals are activated.
