Hermantown roundabout construction begins June 11, detours in place for Maple Grove Road

Construction is set to begin Monday, June 11, to build a roundabout at the intersection of Midway Road and Maple Grove Road in Hermantown. During the first month of the project, Midway Road will remain open to traffic. Maple Grove Road, however, will be closed on both sides of the intersection. Detours will be posted directing motorists to use Lavaque Road and Morris Thomas Road.

Highway 5 bridge over Bear River to close for three weeks for final project phase

The final phase of construction has resumed on the new bridge on County State Aid Highway 5 over the Bear River. The new bridge was installed and opened late last fall, but finishing touches - including final paving, striping and shoulder work - needed to wait until spring.

Final stage of bridge project begins on CSAH 88 bridge over Burntside Lake

The final phase of the project to replace the bridge on County State Aid Highway 88 (Grant McMahon Boulevard) west of Ely begins today, and that means the road will be closed and a detour in place for the next three weeks. Detour signage will be placed on both CSAH 88 and Highway 169.

Final stage of 4th Street construction project begins Monday

Final stage of 4th Street construction project begins Monday

The final phase of the multi-year project to rebuild approximately two miles of 4th Street and replace the utilities beneath in Duluth will resume on May 7. Beginning Monday, 4th Street will be closed between 22nd Avenue East and Wallace Avenue. Crews will be paving the road; constructing curbs, gutters and sidewalks; installing street lighting; and landscaping.
