Spring road restrictions go into effect Wednesday in the north central frost zone, and Thursday for the north frost zone, which encompasses the majority of St. Louis County.

The meeting will be March 1 at the Woodland Community Center in Duluth to discuss the project that will involve road and utility improvements on Woodland Avenue, Calvary Road and several adjoining streets.

Pushing snow onto a road creates a hazard for other drivers. The ridge of snow often left behind as snow is pushed from a driveway across the road can cause cars to lose control and potentially get in an accident.

The bonds will be offered at two separate dates and will finance construction of the new Governement Services Center - North facility in Virginia, and a new Public Works maintenance garage in Cook that will serve the northwestern quarter of the county.

Commissioners unanimously approved the resolution after initial assessements show an estimated $3.4 million in damages from the October 27 snow and windstorm. The declaration starts the process to possibly receive state and federal public disaster assistance for the City of Duluth, DNR, and Lake Superior and Mississippi Railroad, as well as the County.
