A warrant is a court order to apprehend an individual. Arrest warrants are issued by the Courts, signed by Judges and entered into the State and Federal computers. The Sheriff's Office processes arrest warrants as required by state statute.
Search for active warrants:
1. Find felony or gross misdemeanor level criminal warrants issued since December 5, 2011, by clicking on the Warrants List icon below. The information on warrants comes directly from the Sixth Judicial District Court. The Sheriff's Office offers the online list as a public service for informational and public safety purposes. A name on the list does not indicate that the person is guilty of a crime; only that a warrant was on file for their arrest on the date and time the list was published. The list is updated daily at 9:00 PM, but there are often delays between court action on a warrant and updates to the warrant database. The list attempts to be accurate as of the last update and based upon the information provided by the Court. However, results can be different from court records and the Sheriff's Office warrant system. All active warrants must be confirmed prior to enforcement. If you determine that a name is listed in error, please contact the appropriate Court clerk to resolve the issue.
Do not attempt to apprehend the person yourself or approach them on your own. Some persons may be armed and dangerous, so arrests should be handled by law enforcement only. If you know the whereabouts of one of the individuals listed, please contact the St. Louis County 911 Communications non-emergency number at 218-625-3581.
2. Find other types of warrants by searching the Minnesota Judicial Branch's Case Records website. You must accept the terms and limitations of the database search before you can search by civil/family cases or criminal cases. Searching by case number or citation number will show more information than simply searching by name in criminal cases.
3. Public access computers are available in Rooms 320 and 133 in the St. Louis County Courthouse in Duluth during regular court hours to enable people to check for warrants using the public state database for case record access.

Ways to resolve a warrant:
- Self-report to the courthouse where the case was heard:
- Duluth Courthouse: Walk-in appointments for resolving warrants are during Tuesday morning sessions at 8 a.m., Tuesday afternoon sessions at 1 p.m. and Thursday morning sessions at 8 a.m. every week. Please report promptly at the time indicated so you can be added to the docket. Check in at Room 133 and let them know you wish to appear for your warrant.
- Hibbing Courthouse: Walk-in appointments for resolving warrants are during Monday morning sessions every week. Check in with the Hibbing Courthouse's Customer Service window promptly at 8:00 a.m. and let them know you wish to appear for your warrant.
- Virginia Courthouse: Walk-in appointments for resolving warrants are during Friday morning sessions every week. Check in with the Virginia Courthouse's Sheriff's Office promptly at 8:00 a.m. and let them know you wish to appear for your warrant. You will then be directed to Room 121 in the Court Administrator's Office to finish the check-in process.
- Fine-only warrants may be resolved by paying the fine at the Court Administrator's Office at the courthouse location where the case was heard.
