The seasonal load limits have been in place in the North Zone, which covers the majority of St. Louis County, since March 22. Restrictions in the North Central Zone have already been lifted. 

The closure affects seven miles of the road from Swan Lake Road to Hwy 133. It's part of a resurfacing project expected to last until August. The duration of the project will be completed with lane closures to allow for through traffic.

Richard H. Hansen led the Public Works Department for 17 years, retiring in 2002. The department's main building in Pike Lake is named in his honor. Hansen died Monday at the age of 79.

The work to rebuild 4th Street means the road will be closed from 10th to 19th Avenues East. Additional work will take place from 6th to 10th Avenues East, though that portion of the road will remain open.

A public meeting will be held April 18 to provide information and get feedback on a proposal to build a roundabout at the intersection of Midway Road and Maple Grove Road.
