St. Louis County will host a series of public workshops July 16-20, to gather feedback and get input on the initial draft elements of its new proposed Comprehensive Land Use Plan, plus provide opportunity to review and comment on the draft goals and objectives, and the alternative future land use maps.

On July 10, 2018, members of the LSDVCTF executed a narcotics search warrant at the Black Bear Cafe as the result of an investigation into Yernatich for methamphetamine sales.

On June 30, 2018 at approximately 11:56 AM, deputies responded to the Louisiana Pacific Complex (former Potlatch site) in Angora Township regarding a burglary in progress call.

On 7/08/2018, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to a water emergency of two females that had swamped their kayaks and were stranded in a swampy area of the Cloquet River, between the Independence rest area, and the Highway 8 bridge.
