No one was living in the residence at the time of the fire. The State Fire Marshall is now investigating the case.

On 8/23/18 at around 5AM, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and Chisholm Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 6500 block of Long Lake Road North in Balkan Township.

Fire destroyed a shed and was spreading to nearby trees at a property on East Shore Road. Firefighters were able to contain the fire, but the shed was destroyed. The cause remains under investigation.

The 18-year-old reportedly swam to a diving dock and then back to shore wearing a life jacket, then wanted to try again without the life jacket. He went under water shortly before reaching the diving dock. His body was recovered after about 30 minutes of searching.

Joshua Leigh Miller was found guilty of attempted murder, assault and burglary. The case was successfully prosecuted by the St. Louis County Attorney's Office
