County Attorney Mark Rubin, along with Judge Eric Hylden and representatives of the Student Attendance Review Board will gather before the school year begins to talk about the issue of truancy and how to assist students and families to encourage academic success.

Up to 15 scholarships worth $600 each, will be awarded to students preparing for a career in law enforcement. The deadline to apply is Oct. 12.

The 17-year-old had been jet skiing on the Cloquet River. He was found about a mile from the Bachelor Road boat landing in Grand Lake Township and treated for minor hypothermia. 

17 students - the largest group to date - participated in this annual trip, helping at three Twin Cities non-profit agencies that serve children and families.

A car rear-ended a farm tractor on Hwy 22 north of Chisholm. The driver of the tractor was airlifted to a Duluth hospital for treatment of his injuries.
