The state of Minnesota has two types of property tax refunds to help reduce the burden on taxpayers.
The first is for homeowners or renters whose property taxes exceed a specified percentage of household income. For taxes payable in 2025, the homeowner’s household income must have been less than $139,320 in 2024 to be eligible.
The second for homestead properties that meet the following requirements:
There is no income limit on the second type of refund.
Current year application forms and instructions may be found on the Minnesota Department of Revenue's website, and are due to the Minnesota Department of Revenue by August 15.
