On 5/15/2026, at about 7:39 PM, deputies responded to the intersection of Comstock Lake Rd. and Mink Rd in Cotton on a report of a three-wheeled motorcycle that had crashed. The driver, a 52-year-old male from Cotton was found on the ground with a head injury.

With eight wildfires currently burning in St. Louis County, the County has activated its Emergency Operations Center to ensure a coordinated response and shared information on the existing fires, and due to concerns of additional fires that could start during the extreme fire risk conditions. Currently, all eight of the fires we previously reported on have been controlled and mop up operations continue. 

On May 14th, 2026, Deputies from the St. Louis County Sheriff's office as well as multiple fire agencies responded to a structure fire on the 3200 Block of Clyde Rd South of Eveleth in unorganized township 56R17.

On May 9th, 2026 at 0818, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a water emergency at the Island Lake Dam.
