Public Health offers special vaccination clinic on Range for students 16+ and families

St. Louis County Public Health is holding a vaccination clinic for high school students age 16+ and any family members that age or older. The clinic will be this Thursday, April 22, from 1-6:30 p.m. at the Eveleth Curling Club, 901 Hat Trick Avenue in Eveleth, and will involved the Pfizer vaccine, which is approved for anyone age 16+. Advance registration is recommended to ensure a slot and minimize wait times, however walk-ins will be accepted at this clinic.

Single vehicle fatality

Single vehicle fatality

A 57 year old female was pronounced dead at the scene of a single vehicle crash near Canosia road and Hwy 53 in Grand Lake Township. The vehicle continued straight on a curve in the roadway and landed approximately 175' from the corner. Speed and alcohol were likely contributing factors to the crash. The name of the driver is being withheld pending notification of family. The Grand Lake Fire Department, St Louis County Sheriff's Office Rescue Squad and Minnesota State Patrol Responded.

St. Louis County is seeking applicants to help provide housing solutions for families, youth and singles currently experiencing homelessness or at serious risk of homelessness. Interested non-profits - both those who've participated in the past and want to reapply, as well as any new applicants - must submit their Letter of Intent to St. Louis County by Monday, April 12, at noon.

Recap of services provided to St. Louis County residents experiencing homelessness

March 31 marked the seasonal closing of the Duluth Warming Center located this year at the Rainbow center with additional space at CHUM. The Duluth Warming Center was managed by CHUM in close partnership with Duluth HRA and the Loaves & Fishes Community, with additional support from the City of Duluth, St. Louis County, Duluth Transit Authority and the Federal CARES Act. It could be re-activated as needed this month based on cold weather and snow conditions that could be dangerous for those living outside across St. Louis County.

Single vehicle accident in Grand Lake Township

Single vehicle accident in Grand Lake Township

At approximately 1407 hours today, St. Louis County Deputies responded to a single vehicle accident in the 6000 block of Esker Trail in Grand Lake Township. Upon arrival, Deputies found a Dodge Caravan had left the roadway, traveled down a steep embankment, crashed into some trees, and came to rest in a small pond.  The male driver and female passenger were both able to get out of the van onto dry land.
