County Board votes to prohibit new cervid farms to combat CWD

The St. Louis County Board has voted to prohibit new cervid farms in the county in an effort to prevent the spread of chronic wasting disease (CWD). The unanimous vote updates the county’s zoning ordinance to allow existing cervid farms to continue to operate, though prohibits expansion of those existing farms.

Minnesota Sheriff's Association offers scholarships to law enforcement students

The Minnesota Sheriff's Association (MSA) is again offering scholarships to students pursuing careers in law enforcement, and St. Louis County Sheriff Ross Litman encourages local students to apply. Up to 20 scholarships worth $2,000 each will be awarded as part of the MSA's Law Enforcement Scholarship Program for 2022. These scholarships are due to the coordinated efforts of the 87 Sheriffs of the State of Minnesota.

On 09/17/22 at approximately 1855 hours, St. Louis County Deputies responded to a report of a camper fire in the 4800 block of Midway Road in Canosia Township.  It was reported that a slide in truck camper that was currently positioned on a utility trailer had started on fire.

St. Louis County seeks proposals for Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention

St. Louis County is looking for ideas on how to prevent the introduction or limit the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) in lakes, rivers and other bodies of water. The County has $712,235 in grant money to award in 2023 through the state's AIS Prevention Aid Program.
