One Vehicle Crash in Grand Lake Township

On Dec. 6th 2022 the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a one vehicle crash in the 5200 block of Munger Shaw Rd in Grand Lake Township.  Tammy Shelton of Grand Lake Township lost control of her vehicle on the slippery roadway and crashed into a pond.  Her vehicle was partially submerged, and she was assisted out of her vehicle by first responders.  She had non-life threatening injuries and was transported by Mayo Ambulance to the hospital.

On November 27th, 2022, PHILLIP LAMOUNT DAVIS DOB 12/24/1970, was arrested after the Lake Supervisor Violent Offender Task Force (LSVOTF) conducted an investigation that indicated DAVIS was selling controlled substances from his apartment, located on the 600 block of 23rd Street in Hibbing, near the Hibbing High School.

Derek Edward Malevich Sentencing

Today, the Honorable Andrew R. Peterson sentenced Derek Edward Malevich to 583 months in prison for the May 2021 murder of Kristen Bicking, St. Louis County Attorney Kim Maki said. Mr. Malevich previously pleaded guilty to Second-Degree Intentional Murder and First-Degree Aggravated Witness tampering. Mr. Malevich received the statutory maximum sentence, 480 months, for his plea to Second-Degree Intentional Murder and a consecutive 103-month sentence for his plea to First-Degree Aggravated Witness Tampering. Pursuant to agreement, an indictment charging two counts of First-Degree Murder was dismissed.
