St. Louis County Board considers property tax levy for 2026

The St. Louis County Board has given initial approval for the 2026 maximum property tax levy in the amount of $202,669,428. This is a 12.4% increase in the levy compared to last year, though the impact will be somewhat reduced by the county's 7% increase in property tax base.

Single vehicle accident sends man to the hospital

The single vehicle rollover occurred in a highway construction zone in Embarrass Township. The elderly male driver was traveling southbound on Highway 21 and failed to navigate a left turn after realizing Highway 21 was closed for construction. Construction workers on scene assisted first responders with removing the driver from the vehicle.

Capsized kayak along the North Shore

Capsized kayak along the North Shore

On August 16, 2025 at 1314 hours, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to the 5800 block of North Shore Drive for a report of a capsized vessel in the water with no one around. The United States Coast Guard also responded. Deputies located the kayak washed ashore, full of water with no one around along the shoreline of Stoney Point Drive near North Shore Drive. Attempts to contact the registered owner of the kayak were unsuccessful.
