Lost Hunter Anchor Lake

On 10/1/24 at approximately 1750 hours the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and Rescue Squad was called to assist in locating a lost hunter near the Achor Lake Rest Stop in Central Lakes on Hwy 53. A 77 year old male had been bird hunting since 9AM and had not returned. Minnesota State Troopers were flagged down by family to report the party lost in the above area. The State Patrol requested our assistance in addition to the St. Louis County Rescue Squad and our drone team. MSP had air assets enroute to assist with the search as well.

Corey Devon Young Sentenced

On September 30, 2024, the Honorable David Johnson sentenced Corey Devon Young, 19, to 330 months in prison for Mr. Young’s conviction for Second Degree Intentional Murder. A jury previously found Young guilty on June 4, 2024. Evidence at trial established that Young used a pistol to shoot a juvenile male victim in close proximity on a sidewalk in the area of 1414 East 1st Street in Duluth on the night of July 2, 2022.

On Monday September 30th, 2024 at approximately 3:40 A.M. St. Louis County Sheriff's Deputies and the Cook Fire Department and ambulance service responded to the report of a structure fire in the 200 blk of 1st Ave NW in the city of Cook.

House Fire in the 6700 block of Seville Road

House Fire in the 6700 block of Seville Road

A structure fire was reported at approximately 8pm in the 6700 block of Seville Road in Solway Township. Fire crews responding observed a home fully engulfed in flames, and no one inside of the structure. It was determined that the fire was intentionally started by the homeowner in an effort to destroy what was left of the structure during demolition. A proper permit for the burn was not obtained by the homeowner. The matter is still under investigation by the St Louis County Sheriff's Office and the State Fire Marshal.
