Arrest in Fredenburg Township - Duluth, MN

Family, friends, and neighbors of Daniel Svercl have reported concerns to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office about his declining mental health for over a month. Svercl has refused offers of help or other services. There were no crimes committed that could warrant taking Svercl into custody. Several of the statements that were reported to the Sheriff's Office included comments Svercl made about forcing a violent confrontation with law-enforcement, what is known as “suicide by cop”

Structure Fire in Fredenberg Township

On November 24th, 2022 the St Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to 5559 Taft Road for a report of a structure fire. A barn and shed were completely destroyed, no injuries to any party. The cause of the fire and related incidents are still under investigation.

Construction of the Woodland Avenue and Snively Road intersection was completed in October. However, issues with the new traffic signal system at the intersection have led to long delays for motorists, in particular for northbound vehicles on Woodland Avenue turning right onto northbound Snively Road.

County Board schedules two public meetings to get input on 2023 budget

The St. Louis County Board will hold two public meetings to receive comments on its proposed operating budget and tax levy for 2023. The first meeting is Monday, November 21, at 7 p.m. in the St. Louis County Courthouse in Virginia, lower level conference room. The second meeting will be Monday, November 28, at 7 p.m. at the St. Louis County Courthouse in Duluth. Both meetings will be open for the public to attend in person. The November 28 meeting will also include a live stream option for people to watch and provide comment virtually. A link to join the meeting virtually will be posted at stlouiscountymn.gov.
