FEMA housing inspectors have just arrived in St. Louis County and have notified county emergency management that they will be ready to begin inspecting residences damaged in the June flood event as early as tomorrow (Saturday, August 3). The inspections are necessary for anyone seeking financial assistance through FEMA.

St. Louis County has been awarded a federal grant totaling $1,849,228 to help address climate change impacts on the coastal region surrounding Lake Superior. The grant is from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Commerce Department and will be paid over four years.

It's been six weeks since heavy rains led to significant flooding in parts of St. Louis County. In that time, St. Louis County assessors have visited 716 private properties where damage had been reported and inspected a total of 1,973 structures. With their work on the damage assessment process winding down, the Assessors Department has some important reminders for citizens who sustained damage resulting from the June flooding.
