Car vs Electric bicycle (E-Bike) injury crash

On October 24th, 2023 at approximately 10:53 P.M. Saint Louis County Sheriff's deputies responded to a vehicle vs electric bicycle (E-Bike) crash that occurred in the 4100 block of Hwy 100 in White Township approximately 5 miles South of Aurora, Mn. Both the vehicle and the e-bike were traveling northbound on Hwy 100 when the vehicle collided with the e-bike.The E-Bike rider Frank VANDEHEY was transported by the Hoyt Lakes Ambulance to the Essentia Health-Northern Pines Hospital in Aurora with serious injuries.

On Saturday, October 21, 2023, the Superior Police Department, at the request of St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office Investigators, arrested 48-year-old CLINT MASSIE, of Grand Lake Township, in the City of Superior on two felony warrants stemming from charges of 1st degree criminal sexual conduct and 2nd-degree criminal sexual conduct.

St. Louis County coordinates Community Connect event on Iron Range

 A Community Connect event will be held on the Iron Range - on Wednesday, November 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Iron Trail Motors Event Center, 919 6th Street South in Virginia. Community Connect is an event designed for people experiencing homelessness or economic hardship and brings together a variety agencies and non-profits to provide free services including free hair trims, food, clothing and hygiene items; housing supports; crisis information; mental health resources; warrant resolutions; children and family services; vaccine and disease education; health insurance information; and substance use disorder services.

Prescription drug turn-in events set for October 28

Saturday, October 28, is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. Proper disposal of un-used and expired prescription and over-the-counter medications in a local drop box helps prevent accidental poisoning, reduces the possibility of medication misuse, and prevents water pollution and other environmental threats. Medication drop boxes will be staffed and available for take-back events on Saturday, October 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the St. Louis County Sheriff's offices in Virginia and Hibbing. Medications to be disposed of should be brought in in their original containers with any personal identifying information crossed off.
