Fatal Residential House Fire- Beatty Township Update

At approximately 9:20 PM last night Deputies with the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office along with fire personal from Cook, Orr, Kinney-Great Scott and Greenwood were dispatched to a residential house fire in Beatty Township.  Upon arrival the house was fully engulfed.  Through investigation two parties were located in the residence deceased.  This incident is still under investigation and names are being withheld pending notification of family.  The Sheriff's Office along with the State Fire Marshall's Office are still actively investigating.

On Sunday July 20th at approximately 1138 hours, St. Louis Count Deputies received a COPS alert in connection with Domestic Assault, DANCO Violation, weapons possession (crossbow), and threats to Law Enforcment and the general public advising the suspect would not stop and would crash his vehicle. This incident originated in Isanti County and the suspect was believed to be traveling northbound.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with three townships - Clinton, Cherry, and McDavitt - to host a memorable National Night Out event. Activities will be held at the Clinton Community Center, 8907 Hwy 37, Iron, on Tuesday August 5, from 4:30-8 p.m. All are welcome and encouraged to attend this free, family-friendly event.

Ashley Rose Cook Sentenced

Ashley Rose Cook Sentenced

Today in St. Louis County District Court in Hibbing, the Honorable Rachel Sullivan sentenced Ashley Rose Cook, 21, to 48 months in prison for Second Degree Manslaughter in the overdose death of Isaiah Lamar Deegan, announced St. Louis County Attorney Kim Maki. Ms. Cook pleaded guilty to Second Degree Manslaughter during a hearing on May 15, 2025.
