St. Louis County Public Works is developing a new Safety Action Plan (SAP). The plan will focus on all county roads except those in Duluth. (The Duluth-Superior Metropolitan Interstate Council is conducting a separate Safety Action Plan.) The Safety Action Plan studies are made possible thanks to federal funding from the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Program.

On June 8th, 2025, at 10:14pm, the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office responded to a business located in the 4200 block of Hwy 53 outside of Orr, in response to a reported Suspicious Activity call. A juvenile male employee reported being approached and grabbed by another male as he walked in the parking lot. The juvenile was able to get away and called 911. Numerous Law Enforcement agencies converged on the area and made contacts with several vehicles which yielded no suspects.

Following the Minnesota Legislature's passage of multiple major bills during the special session that wrapped up early Tuesday morning, St. Louis County leaders reflected on the wins and losses of the session and issued this statement.
