At about 9:20 this morning, the St. Louis County 911 center received a call reporting a structure fire on Heritage Trail near East Pioneer Road in Normanna Township. The caller said their neighbor had sprayed a family member with gasoline and set their home on fire.

Beginning Monday, July 14, the Third Street Parking Ramp, which connects by skywalk to the rear of the St. Louis County Courthouse in Duluth, will close for scheduled maintenance. The closure for resurfacing work is expected to take approximately six weeks.

New Scam Alert

The Sheriff’s Office has taken numerous calls from citizens reporting a new scam. The scammers are sending invoices via email that claim to be from St. Louis County Planning and Zoning. The invoices demand money be wired to various locations. The Sheriff's Office has determined these emails and invoices are fraudulent. In addition, St. Louis County WILL NEVER ask that money be wired, sent via gift cards, or paid in any other unorthodox manner.

On July 8th, 2025 at 1125 hours, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to the 3600 Block of Town Line Road in Unorganized Township 56r14 for the report of a one vehicle rollover. The caller located a vehicle rolled over in the ditch with an occupant trapped inside.

St. Louis County waives permit fees for rebuilding after wildfire

To help property owners affected by this spring's wildfires, the St. Louis County Board has voted to temporarily waive the fees associated with land use and septic permits for those trying to rebuild. The waiving of permit fees is valid through January 4, 2026, and is for the replacement of structures lost and for addressing failing septic systems within the disaster area.
