Found Skeletal Remains Identified

On April 5, 2019, Agents from the U.S. Border Patrol were conducting a welfare check on Jordan M. Grider, who had been staying at a campsite off the Sioux Hustler Trail since October 22, 2018.  Agents located the campsite and found large amounts of blood inside the campsite.  Investigators from the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office arrived and gathered evidence but were unable to locate any signs of Jordan Grider due to deep snow.

County launches new web page, finalizes other details for those applying for CARES Act funds

With $12 million ready to distribute to small businesses, community organizations and individuals in need resulting from the pandemic, St. Louis County is finalizing the process and schedule to make it as easy as possible for people to apply for and receive an assistance grant. The county has launched a new web page: stlouiscountymn.gov/CARES where people interested in applying can find more information about eligibility requirements and how the funds can be used, the timeline, and how to apply.

Three more virtual info sessions scheduled for small businesses seeking CARES Act grants

Three additional information sessions will be held for small businesses interested in applying for an assistance grant from St. Louis County's Small Business Relief Fund. Two virtual information session will be offered next week on Monday, and one on Thursday. Specific dates and times are:

Monday, August 17, 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Monday, August 17, 6-7 p.m.

Thursday, August 20 , 11 a.m.- noon

County Board approves plan for distribution of $24.5 million in CARES Act funding

The St. Louis County Board unanimously approved a plan Tuesday for the distribution of the approximately $24.5 million in federal CARES Act funds that the county received. The plan calls for $6 million to be allocated for small business assistance, $6 million for community assistance, $1.25 million for the logging industry, $10 million to cover costs the county has incurred while responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, and $255,000 for cities and townships with populations under 200 people. An additional $1 million will be held in reserve to be distributed later in the fall based on analysis of need.
