Redistricting 2022

Redistricting is the process of redrawing the boundaries of election districts to ensure that all citizens receive equal elected representation and that every district has borders consistent with standards set by the U.S. Constitution, federal law, and state law. Redistricting is done every ten years, following the census. Redistricting takes place in several phases. This is information primarily about county-related redistricting.

St. Louis County Board Redistricting Actions

The Auditor’s Office will discuss the redistricting process and present the proposed 2022 redistricting plan during the April 5, 2022 Committee of the Whole meeting. This meeting convenes immediately following the St. Louis County Board Meeting, which begins at 9:30 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Government Services Center, 320 W, 2nd Street, Duluth and can be viewed live.

The St. Louis County Board will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at 9:35 a.m. in the Hoyt Lakes City Hall, Hoyt Lakes, MN to consider and adopt the 2022 Commissioner redistricting plan. The meeting will be recorded and available for the public to view.  

The meeting will also be replayed on PACTV on Wednesday, April 27th at 7:30 p.m. 
 

Citizen Comments

Citizens can provide written comments  here, or by mail to the: Clerk of County Board, 100 North 5th Avenue West, Room 214, Duluth, MN, 55802.  Comments received by April 22, 2022 will be forwarded to the Board prior to the public hearing on April 26, 2022.  

Verbal testimony will be accepted by the Board during the April 26, 2022 public hearing.  Citizens are welcome to speak during the public comment period at all board meetings. 

The St. Louis County Board of Commissioner meetings held in April, will convene at 9:30 a.m. on the dates and locations listed.
