County conducting online surveys to measure public preference for design of two projects

St. Louis County Public Works engineers have created two online surveys to gather additional public input on design options for two upcoming projects in Duluth. Both projects have already involved several public meetings. They are the 40th Avenue West Corridor Project, which includes the intersection with Grand Avenue; and the Piedmont Avenue/24th Avenue West intersection project.

UPDATED: Person dies in house fire

On February 25, 2024 at approximately 1:18 PM first responders and law enforcement responded to the report of a residential structure fire, located in the 1400 block of Grant McMahan Boulevard, in Morse Township, near Ely. Firefighters attempted to search for the homeowner believed to be inside. The victim was found deceased after the fire was under control.

Temporary load restrictions announced for four St. Louis County roads

St. Louis County Public Works has announced temporary load restrictions effective end of day on Friday, February 23 on four gravel roads in the southeastern portion of the county due to deteriorating conditions in this unseasonably warm weather. Vehicles traveling on the following roads will be limited to five tons per axle: Fox Farm Road,  Two Harbors Road, App Road, West Knife River Road (gravel portion).
