ATV Crash

On March 1st, 2023 at 8:45pm, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to an ATV crash with injuries, located within the 2600 Block of Co. Rd. 77, Greenwood Township.  A Fairbault resident was visiting a family cabin for the weekend and had gone on an ATV ride.  While navigating a steep ditch on Co. Rd 77, the ATV slid downhill, on ice and then flipped over, landing on the driver of the ATV.  The driver later had to be transported via helicopter to a Duluth area hospital for serious injuries.

Spring road restrictions announced for portion of St. Louis County roads

Spring load restrictions have been announced for the North-Central Zone of Minnesota, which includes the southwest corner of St. Louis County. Restrictions will go into effect on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 12:01 a.m. The North-Central Zone includes the area south of US Highway 2 and west of State Highway 33.

On March 1, 2024 at approximately 3:00am, Saint Louis County Sheriff's Deputies and area emergency services responded to a residence on the West Brach Road in Pequaywan Township for a reported sauna fire. No injuries reported.

County conducting online surveys to measure public preference for design of two projects

St. Louis County Public Works engineers have created two online surveys to gather additional public input on design options for two upcoming projects in Duluth. Both projects have already involved several public meetings. They are the 40th Avenue West Corridor Project, which includes the intersection with Grand Avenue; and the Piedmont Avenue/24th Avenue West intersection project.
