The strong initial surge of applications for federal financial aid from St. Louis County residents affected by the June flood has already started to slow, allowing FEMA to reduce its operating hours at the Disaster Recovery Center in Virginia. The Center initially was open seven days a week, but will now be closed on Sundays. It will continue to operate Monday-Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with all appointments on a first come, first served basis. 

We are currently experiencing numerous scam calls in our area.  The scammer has cloned our main office line 218-726-2340.  They call and claim you missed a court date, resulting in a warrant for your arrest.  They prompt you to pay money via a third-party app to clear the warrant up. 

St. Louis County residents and business owners who sustained damage during severe storms and flooding that occurred June 16 through July 4 can now get in-person help with navigating the process of applying for federal assistance. FEMA is opening a Disaster Recovery Center beginning Friday, August 15, operating out of the St. Louis County Public Works facility in Virginia, 7823 Highway 135. The Disaster Recovery Center will be open seven days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with all appointments on a first come, first served basis.

On 08/10/2024 at approximately 2145 hours, Lake Superior Violent Offender Task Force (LSVOTF) and the St Louis County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant on Highway 37 and Dublin Road near the Hibbing Airport as a part of an ongoing narcotics investigation. During this warrant, a male and female were taken into custody and are charged with 1^st degree sales of methamphetamine for their part in trafficking methamphetamine from Chicago to the Iron Range over the last several months. $1900 of suspected drug proceeds were seized from the passenger during this warrant.
