The statistics are as startling as they are sad. The number of children being placed in out-of-home care continues to rise in St. Louis County. This week, that number reached 540, and increase of more than 40 from just two years ago. And a disproportionate number of those children are Native American. David Glesener of the county's Indian Child Welfare Unit addresses this topic.

Noise induced hearing loss, or NIHL, is the number one cause of hearing loss, especially among young people. And when it happens, the damage is permanent. Public Health and Human Services Director Ann Busche offers these tips to protect your ears.
