The man was injured when he was thrown from his snowmobile and then struck by an oncoming snowmobile. The accident happened on the Bearskin Snowmobile Trail. His injuries are considered non life threatening.

Investigators with the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force conducted two search warrants - in Virginia and Mt. Iron - seizing drugs, firearms and cash. Four people were arrested. Three children were found at one of the locations and taken protective custody.

The cause of the morning fire remains under investigation. The homeowner escaped from the house and called 911. He was taken by ambulance to a Duluth hospital to be treated for minor burns and smoke inhalation.

Public Records & Property Valuation

Image: Public Records & Property Valuation It’s got the longest name of any County department, and somehow that seems fitting, considering the broad spectrum of services it provides. Public Records and Property Valuation includes both the Assessor’s Office and the Recorder’s Office.

The Assessor's Office is responsible for ensuring that all properties throughout the County are equally and uniformly assessed. This includes 149,300 taxable parcels, within 24 cities, 74 organized townships and 75 unorganized townships.

The Recorder’s Office is your source for more than 150 types of legal documents, ranging from birth and death certificates, to real estate recordings to ministry credentials.

Minnesota Statutes section 471.701 requires counties and cities with a population of more than 15,000 to annually notify its residents of the positions and base salaries of its three highest-paid employees. For St. Louis County, titles and salaries as of January 1, 2018 are:
