County engineers are hosting a kickoff meeting to discuss an Intersection Control Evaluation Study and to gather feedback from the public for the intersection of 24th Avenue West and Piedmont Avenue in Duluth. The meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 6 p.m., at Denfeld High School in the West Commons area. 

On September 16th, 2023, at 9:03pm, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a boat accident on an island, on Lake Vermilion.  Members of the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office Rescue Squad and the Tower Fire Department responded to Rainbow Island, located in Daisy Bay and discovered a pontoon boat that had struck the island. 1st Responders located a female passenger that had been thrown from the boat, onto the island and provided medical assistance until she could be transported to shore.  The passenger was subsequently transported to the Virgina Hospital, via Tower Ambulance, due to her non-life-threatening injuries.  The driver of the boat was also transported to shore by 1st Responders and then transported, by ambulance, to the Virginia Hospital as a precaution.
