St. Louis County Public Health is seeking nominations from the public to recognize individuals or groups who have made significant effort to improve the health of residents or communities in St. Louis County. The Public Health Achievement Awards will be presented during the St. Louis County Board meeting on Tuesday, April 2.

Murder suspect arrested on multiple warrants

Members of the Lake Superior Violent Offender Task Force (LSVOTF) arrested 41-year-old Justin Dean Stauffer in Duluth. Stauffer was known to have active warrant felony warrants, including for for 3rd Degree Murder. Stauffer currently has 18 open cases in St. Louis County.

Sheriff's Office receives fire suppression tool from area Masons

Two local Masonic Lodges will be donating 10 portable fire suppression tools to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office to help deputies and the people they are trying to save. The fire suppression tools, generously donated by the Glen Avon Lodge and Euclid Lodge, will be presented to the Sheriff's Office on Thursday, February 8, at 1 p.m., at the Masonic Center of Duluth, 4 West 2nd Street.

Yesterday, the Honorable Michelle M. Anderson sentenced David Kevin Medicine, 38, to 41 months in prison for Criminal Vehicular Homicide that caused the death of Cathy Majorie Johnson, 61, a passenger in the vehicle Mr. Medicine was driving on October 21, 2023.

St. Louis County Sheriff's Office offers Citizens' Academy on Iron Range

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office is bringing back its popular Citizens' Academy, this time for residents in northern St. Louis County. The Citizens' Academy provides a unique inside look at the Sheriff's Office and how it operates. The seven-week course begin March 19 and will be offered Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m., as well as one Saturday session.  Any St. Louis County resident ages 18 or older may apply.
