Motivated by concerning trends and a desire to develop new solutions and supports, a new group is forming focused on preventing suicide on the Iron Range. The Suicide Prevention Coalition will host a kick-off meeting for the public on Wednesday, September 24, from 4-7 p.m. at the Mountain Iron Community Center.

On September 14th, at 2:20pm, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a wife, reporting that her husband, who is suffering from dementia, had left their residence at approximately 1:30pm and had not returned.  The residence is on the Rivers Road which is just south of Tower.

County explores options to make West Arrowhead Road safer for non-motorized traffic

St. Louis County Public Works is developing an Active Transportation Plan to improve safety and travel opportunities along West Arrowhead Road for pedestrians, bicyclists and other non-motorized users. County engineers will host a public meeting to gather input from people who travel on the West Arrowhead Road corridor in Duluth. The meeting will be Tuesday, September 23, from 6-8 p.m. at the Hermantown YMCA, 4289 Ugstad Road in Hermantown. A virtual attendance option is also available on the project website: engage.stlouiscountymn.gov.
