On Friday August 9th, 2024 at approximately 2:30 P.M. St. Louis County Sheriff's Deputies and area first responders were alerted of a side by side (UTV) that had been rear ended by a pick up truck, in the 10000 blk Osborn Rd, in Great Scott Twp. (approximately 15 miles north of Buhl, MN).

Highway 2 and Munger Shaw Road intersections to close for construction beginning Aug. 19

Road construction begins Monday, August 19, at the intersection of Highway 2 and Munger Shaw Road in Solway Township. As a result, both roads will be closed at that intersection for approximately six weeks. The county is constructing left-turn lanes on Highway 2 at the intersection with Munger Shaw Road. The project also includes the permanent closure of the connection of County Road 161 (Old Hwy 2) with US 2 just east of Munger Shaw Road.

Beldo Sentenced for Babbit Double Homicide

Today, the Honorable Michelle M. Anderson sentenced Roger Allen Beldo to 556 months in prison for murdering two people in their home in Babbitt on October 28, 2023. Beldo previously pleaded guilty to two counts of Intentional Second-Degree Murder on May 8, 2024.
