Construction of the new bridge on West Skyline Parkway leading to the Spirit Mountain recreation area is complete and the bridge reopened today, more than a month ahead of schedule.

On Friday October 11th, at approximately 1126 A.M. area first responders and fire departments were dispatched to the report of a 60 yr old male victim suffering from burns over most of his body, laying at the end of a driveway, in the 7100 block of Antoinette Rd. in rural Eveleth, MN (unorganized township 56R-17). 

On October 6^th at approximately 1103 hours, the St Louis County Rescue Squad and deputies were dispatched to the report of a capsized canoe on Big Shell Lake located in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area – BWCA.

On 10/1/24 at approximately 1750 hours the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and Rescue Squad was called to assist in locating a lost hunter near the Achor Lake Rest Stop in Central Lakes on Hwy 53. A 77 year old male had been bird hunting since 9AM and had not returned. Minnesota State Troopers were flagged down by family to report the party lost in the above area. The State Patrol requested our assistance in addition to the St. Louis County Rescue Squad and our drone team. MSP had air assets enroute to assist with the search as well. 

With the October 15 deadline nearing for property owners to pay their property taxes for the second half of the year, the St. Louis County Auditor's Office is reminding people of the variety of ways they can pay, including a no-fee online option.
