St. Louis County 911 receives "swatting" calls
Today, the St Louis County Sheriff's Office 911 Division received several calls during the noon hour in reference to school shootings. These calls were determined to be false in what has become known as “SWATTing”.

On 02-24-23 at approximately 1753 hours, area first responders and law enforcement were dispatched to the report of a personal injury accident, involving a snowmobile on the Taconite Trail, near Star Lake, located southwest of Ely.

Plane crash near Grassy Point leaves one male deceased
On February 24, 2023 at approximately 1608 hours, area responders were dispatched to a reported plane crash near Grassy Point. Multiple witnesses contacted 911 emergency communications to report the crash. Upon arrival by first responders, a lone 52-year-old male from Hermantown was located deceased at the scene. No one else was in the aircraft at the time of the crash. No structures in the area were damaged and the crash happened on the ice of the harbor.
