Annual point in time count of homeless shows 18% increase, mostly among unsheltered

The results of the annual Point in Time count of people in St. Louis County experiecing homelessness have been analyzed and released, and are showing an 18% increase in homelessness in St Louis County. Some of the increase may be attributed to expanded outreach and capacity compared to previous years.

Level 3 offender moving to Normanna Township

Level 3 offender moving to Normanna Township

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office would like to notify the public about the release of a level three predatory offender. Westley Vandell will be moving into Normanna Township, north of Duluth on July 2, 2020 Upon release, he will be supervised by Arrowhead Regional Correction agents. Those offenders who are designated as Level Three, are subject to community notification upon changing addresses. Motorcycle injury crash-Great Scott Township

On June 20th, 2020 at approximately 7:51 P.M. Saint Louis County Sheriff's deputies assisted by Kinney First responders, Buhl Ambulance, and Virginia ambulance responded to a motorcycle crash that occurred on Old Hwy 169 in Great Scott Township.  50 year old Daniel HANSEN was traveling westbound on Old Highway 169 when he lost control of his motorcycle and went off of the roadway.  Hansen was transported by the Virginia Ambulance to the Essentia Health-Virginia hospital and then transported by Life Link lll air medical to a Duluth area hospital in serious condition.
