On November 25th, 2024 at 1:20 P.M., the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office received a check welfare request in Unorganized Township 56r16. The caller requested that his friend be checked on after receiving self harm text messages.
Deputies responded to the 6100 Block of Peninsula Road to check on the 71 year old male from Makinen. Deputies arrived on scene and observed the residence on fire. Deputies located male/homeowner deceased inside a detached garage. The residence was a total loss.

St. Louis County Public Works staff have completed the corridor study for County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 100 in Aurora, and will hold a public meeting to present the preliminary layout. The St. Louis County Board will hold two public meetings to receive comments on its proposed operating budget and tax levy for 2025. The first meeting is Monday, November 18, at 7 p.m. in the St. Louis County Courthouse in Virginia, lower-level conference room. The second meeting will be Monday, November 25, at 7 p.m. at the St. Louis County Courthouse in Duluth.
