A 60-year-old man, brought to the jail following conviction on sexual misconduct charges, was found unresponsive in his cell during a routine check. Lifesaving measures were provided, and the man was transported to an area hospital, but passed away six days later.

St. Louis County Deputies are investigating a series of burglaries that occurred at cabins in unorganized township 57-16 near Makinen. One person has been arrested and charged. Deputies continue to look for a a snowmobile that was stolen from one of the properties.

On 2/25/2023 at approximately 0845AM a 911 call came in reporting a garage fire in the 7000 block of Heine Rd in Solway Township.  The garage and its contents were a total loss.
