In accordance with Minnesota Statute 244.052, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office would like to notify the public about the relocation of a level 3 predatory offender. On July 2, 2026, Joseph Goerdt, aka Joe Patch, will be living as homeless in the vicinity of the Cedar Bay Campground near Brimson, MN in Ault Township.

St. Louis County Public Health, in partnership with Wilderness Health, Recovery Alliance Duluth and Thrive! Family Recovery Resources is launching a community storytelling initiative designed to celebrate recovery, reduce stigma around substance use disorder and highlight the many faces and experiences of recovery throughout St. Louis County.

On 7/1/26 at approximately 5:36 PM law enforcement and first responders responded to a two vehicle crash near the intersection of Normanna Road and Rice Lake Road in Gnesen Township. One adult was transported by Mayo Ambulance for presumed non-life-threatening injuries. 

The semis pulling garbage transfer trailers began lining up on Regional Landfill Road in Virginia before the gates even opened Wednesday at the St. Louis County Regional Landfill. The trucks were hauling garbage from the Duluth area as well as four neighboring counties.

On Tuesday July 1st, at approximately 02:44 A.M. the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was alerted to the report of a house fire on the 5000 Blk of Carnation Ave. in the City of Mt. Iron.
