William Kalligher Sentenced

William Kalligher, the former owner of Ganucci’s Restaurant in West Duluth, was sentenced to 72 months in prison today after pleading guilty to Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and Attempted First Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct involving his juvenile daughter. The defense argued for a departure with probation and sex offender treatment. Judge David M. Johnson denied the departure motion and sentenced him according to the applicable sentencing guidelines range.

Lone occupant injured when motorcycle slid off the road in the 11000 Blk of Sheep Ranch Rd., in Unorganized Township 67R 20, which is located about a half an hour North of the City of Orr, MN. The injured party was transported by ground ambulance to the Cook Hospital, with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Clinton home damaged by fire

On 06-07-23 at approximately 1926 hours, area first responders and law enforcement were dispatched to the report of a structure at 4447 Cobb Road located in Clinton Township caused by cooking oil on an outdoor burner. The fire was contained and extinguished. The attic and roof of the residence sustained significant damage with no injuries.

Single Vehicle Crash in Canosia Township

Shortly before 6pm on June 5th, 2023, Emergency responders were dispatched to a single vehicle crash in the 5200 block of the Midway Road in Canosia Township after a SUV was observed driving into the ditch. The driver of the vehicle, a 30-year-old male from Duluth, was ultimately transported by Mayo Ambulance to a Duluth hospital for evaluation, and it is believed any injuries were non-life threatening.

On 06-01-23 at approximately 1924 hours, Ely area first responders and law enforcement were dispatched to the report of a 77-year-old male who had possibly broken his ankle while hiking. The victim was carried out and transported to Ely Bloomenson Community Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
