Chisholm man dies in logging truck rollover accident near Makinen

60-year-old Wayne Robbins of Chisholm, who'd been driving a fully loaded logging truck, was killed when the vehicle went off the road on a curve and rolled over. Robbins had not been wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle.

St. Louis County seeks proposals for Aquatic Invasive Species prevention

For the eighth consecutive year, St. Louis County has grant funding available and is seeking proposals for projects that prevent the introduction or limit the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) in lakes, rivers and other bodies of water. The County has $713,522 in grant money to award in 2022 through the state's AIS Prevention Aid Program.

Lost elderly man successfully located

A 77 year old male with Alzheimer's disease walked away from his residence and could not immediately be found. The Sheriff's Rescue Squad responded with various search equipment and personnel.  They located him in good health approximately 3.5 hours later.

St. Louis County issues $26 million bonds at 1.85%

St. Louis County has completed the issuance of $26 million general obligation bonds to construct three new Public Works Maintenance Facilities. The bond sale was authorized by the County Board in August, and today County Auditor Nancy Nilsen updated commissioners that the interest rates on the bonds came back at a very favorable 1.85%.

County Board recommends Kim Maki as St. Louis County Attorney

The St. Louis County Board has given preliminary approval to appoint Kim Maki as St. Louis County Attorney. Current County Attorney Mark Rubin has announced his retirement effective September 30. Maki's appointment would be for the remainder of Rubin's term, which runs through the end of 2022.

 

An Iron Range native, Maki has worked in the County Attorney's Office since 2011, following a decade of work in private practice. She has led the Civil Division since November 2012, providing legal advice and support to County commissioners and all County departments.
