On Tuesday, June 24th, 2025, at about 09:35 AM, first responders and law enforcement responded to a 911 call at the St. Louis County Jail in Duluth, where an inmate was unresponsive in their cell. Life saving measures were immediately taken by jail staff and later by first responders however, these attempts were unsuccessful, and the inmate was declared deceased. At this time the cause of death is unknown. To avoid any conflicts the Sheriff's Office has requested the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) respond to investigate the death.

The St. Louis County Assessor's Department will begin in-person visits next week to inspect properties damaged by the Camp House and Jenkins Creek fires. Staff will begin in Brimson and Fairbanks Township on June 23, assessing and documenting the level of damage. This information will be used to determine the total estimated market value of the improvements damaged, and the percent of damage that occurred.

On June 14th, 2025 at 1530 hours, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to the 4800 Block of Voss Road in rural Mountain Iron for the report of an ATV crash. The caller reported a single ATV crash with one unresponsive occupant.

St. Louis County Public Works is developing a new Safety Action Plan (SAP). The plan will focus on all county roads except those in Duluth. (The Duluth-Superior Metropolitan Interstate Council is conducting a separate Safety Action Plan.) On June 8th, 2025, at 10:14pm, the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office responded to a business located in the 4200 block of Hwy 53 outside of Orr, in response to a reported Suspicious Activity call. A juvenile male employee reported being approached and grabbed by another male as he walked in the parking lot. The juvenile was able to get away and called 911. Numerous Law Enforcement agencies converged on the area and made contacts with several vehicles which yielded no suspects.
