The two-mile segment of Midway Road between Highway 194 in Hermantown and North Pike Lake Road in Canosia Township has a variety of safety concerns including a high density of access points and additional intersections with frontage roads, an aging traffic signal, lack of accommodations for pedestrians and bicyclists along a road that is heavily traveled by large vehicles, and other issues.
Ballots have been counted and residents of Unorganized Township 63-17 have voted to incorporate into St. Louis County's newest township. Unorganized Township 63-17 is located in northern St. Louis County between Beatty and Greenwood Townships
The Munger Shaw Road fire had minimal growth today and remains at approximately 1600 acres.
The Camp House fire has grown slightly to approximately 14,000 acres. Current road closures remain at Hwy 44 and the Rollins Road heading North and from Townline Road heading South. Sheriff's Deputies and the St. Louis County Rescue Squad continued today, checking residents and verifying damages. Currently the number of destroyed structures remains at approximately 140. Evacuation in the Camp House Fire zones is still in effect. Fire crews from numerous agencies continue to battle the fire.
On May 10, 2025 at approximately 2:17 PM, US Forest Service - USFS employees, reported to 911, that they had located a capsize canoe on Iron Lake in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area - BWCA north of Ely, Minnesota.
