Midway Road Corridor Study- next meeting set

St. Louis County Public Works is studying the two-mile segment of Midway Road between Highway 194 in Hermantown and North Pike Lake Road in Canosia Township, along with a short segment of Martin Road that connects to it. This corridor has a variety of safety concerns including a high density of access points and additional intersections with frontage roads, an aging traffic signal, lack of accommodations for pedestrians and bicyclists along a road that is heavily traveled by large vehicles, and other issues.

New Suicide Prevention Coalition seeks volunteers, hosts kick-off community gathering

Motivated by concerning trends and a desire to develop new solutions and supports, a new group is forming focused on preventing suicide on the Iron Range. The Suicide Prevention Coalition will host a kick-off meeting for the public on Wednesday, September 24, from 4-7 p.m. at the Mountain Iron Community Center.

On September 14th, at 2:20pm, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a wife, reporting that her husband, who is suffering from dementia, had left their residence at approximately 1:30pm and had not returned.  The residence is on the Rivers Road which is just south of Tower.
