On May 15, 2026, approximately 4:00 PM, St Louis County deputies and several state, local and federal firefighting resources responded to the report of a wildland fire in Portage Township, which is located approximately 15 miles north Orr, Minnesota. 

On May 16, 2026 at 1321 hours, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, Lakewood Fire Department and multiple other agencies were dispatched to a fully involved structure fire in the 5200 block of Lakewood Road. 

On 5/15/2026, at about 7:39 PM, deputies responded to the intersection of Comstock Lake Rd. and Mink Rd in Cotton on a report of a three-wheeled motorcycle that had crashed. The driver, a 52-year-old male from Cotton was found on the ground with a head injury.

With eight wildfires currently burning in St. Louis County, the County has activated its Emergency Operations Center to ensure a coordinated response and shared information on the existing fires, and due to concerns of additional fires that could start during the extreme fire risk conditions. Currently, all eight of the fires we previously reported on have been controlled and mop up operations continue. 

Today, before the Honorable Michelle Anderson, Adrien Marie Gunderson, 41, was sentenced to 58 months prison for Felony Drive by Shooting Toward Occupied Building, announced St. Louis County Attorney Kim Maki.
