Structure Fire Lakewood Township

On 07/14/20 at 1:29 AM a structure fire of a three story single family residence was reported on the 5000 block of Lakeview Drive in Lakewood Township. Residents reported the house was struck by lightning around 1:20AM, then soon smelled smoke and saw flames coming from the eves on a corner of the roof. All residents were able to safely exit the house, no injuries were reported. The fire resulted in smoke damage, heavy water damage, and a portion of the roof burned. The cost of the damage has not been determined at this time. The Lakewood Fire Department responded and was assisted by Gnesen, Canosia, Rice Lake, Normanna, Fredenberg, Duluth, Hermantown, Clifton, Brimson, and the Air National Guard Fire Departments.

County resumes limited in-person services by appointment

County resumes limited in-person services by appointment

St. Louis County is adding select in-person services available by appointment beginning Monday, July 13. The County continues to recommend people access services using telephone, email, mail and online whenever possible, but is adding in-person appointments to assist citizens who may be having difficulty accessing county services remotely. County buildings remain closed to public, with the exception of the courthouses, which are open for court business only.

St. Louis County sees 15 new cases of COVID-19, largest single day increase to date

Fifteen new cases of COVID-19 are reported for St. Louis County today, the largest single day increase in the county to date. The newest cases involve people ranging in age from pre-teen to late 70s, with nine of the 15 cases involving people under the age of 30. The cases involve people living in both urban and rural communities in the county.
