On October 7th 2018 at approximately 02:17 A.M., St. Louis County Sheriff's Deputies, Biwabik Ambulance / First Responders, Lakeland Fire / First Responders, and Virginia Ambulance were dispatched to a one vehicle crash with injuries on Vermilion Trail, just south of the intersection of Ajax Rd.

County tax forfeited land sale to be held next week in Virginia

Nearly 100 tax forfeited properties are set to be auctioned off by St. Louis County on October 11. The properties include houses in Chisholm, Eveleth, Babbitt, Virginia and Hermantown; numerous urban parcels that have been cleaned up, including some where structures have been razed; plus a waterfront lot with 224 feet of frontage on Shagawa Lake in Ely. The live auction begins Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Miners Memorial Building, 821 South 9th Avenue in Virginia.

Tattoos on the Heart is theme of Health and Human Service Conference

Father Gregory Boyle, the founder of Homeboy Industries, the largest gang intervention, rehab and re-entry program in the country, will be the keynote speaker kicking off this year's St. Louis County Health and Human Services Conference at the DECC. The 36th annual conference runs October 11-12. Father Boyle's speech will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m., in the DECC's Symphony Hall. The opening ceremony also includes a musical welcome from local singer, dancer and writer Solomon Witherspoon.
