Body found in Long Year Lake in Chisholm, MN (Update)

On June 11th, 2020 at approximately 4:10 P.M. Deputies from the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and Officers from the Chisholm Police Department responded to the boat landing and dock area on Longyear Lake in the City of Chisholm, MN. Law Enforcement had received a 911 call reporting a body floating in shallow water near the edge of the shore.

Arrests made in the homicide of Frank Meyer

On October 8, 2019 at approximately 1:15 p.m., St. Louis County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 3300 block of Curt Lane in Makinen, MN at a request to check on the welfare of Frank Gerald MEYER, 47, who had not been seen or heard of for several days.  Deputies eventually located Mr. MEYER deceased on the premises.  The death was ultimately ruled a homicide.

St. Louis County has been made aware that the issues with phone service yesterday that made it difficult for some people to contact 911 have been repaired. People should again be able to reach 911 from both cell phone or land line without issue.

Cabin Fire in Greenwood Township - 1 injured

On 6/06/20 at around 7:48 AM, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, Greenwood Fire/ first responders, Tower Ambulance and Virginia Ambulance responded to a cabin fire in the 4200 block of Nelson Road in Greenwood Township.  Six people were in the cabin when it caught fire.  All six exited the cabin to safety but then one individual went back inside where he was injured, sustaining burns and non-life threatening injuries.  The injured party was then air lifted to Miller Dwan in Duluth.  The incident remains under investigation at this time.
