What is YIA?

Youth in Action (or YIA) is a St. Louis County program that promotes leadership by getting students involved in school and community projects that make a positive impact.

Youth in Action opportunities are available in Iron Range and Duluth area schools for students in grades 7-12. It is free to join and everybody is welcome!

Our MISSION is to maintain and support youth development and community programs and projects. We work to promote public service values to better engage young adults with their communities. Our goal is to bring positive change to St. Louis County through partnerships with students, schools, community organizations and businesses and our in-school advisors.

North St. Louis County 4-H and YIA recently hosted an April Showers Hygiene Drive. Please stay tuned for us to announce the winning classrooms!

Cardboard Box city was Friday, March 26, 2021. This years event was held at Mesabi East High School in the large commons area. Student participants were in grades 7-12.
The goal of Cardboard box city every year is to raise awareness for homelessness and poverty in our local communities. Students make shelters out of cardboard boxes and a mock soup kitchen is set up for student meals.
Thank you to all students who participated and to all who donated! The students will be donating the basic needs bags to the Youth Foyer in Virginia, MN!
